I use a personal CD player often as I go out walking. I do have a small ipod, but I have an extensive cd collection, and there is something nice about the tactile experience of flipping through my cd case, looking at the great cover art while I decide what to listen to on my walk.

My old player had had about 7 years of use and was skipping badly. I decided it was time for a new one, plus there have been more advances made in the technology since I bought my last one.

After looking around for a couple of days online, I decided to try this Sony model. I purchased it as a factory refurbished item off Ebay. I was a little nervous, but the seller provided all the information needed in case I might need to make a warranty claim to Sony.

I got this model for about $38, and it retails for over $100.

The player came, and I read over the instruction booklet to familiarize myself with all the new functions etc. I was surprised by one of the player's features. It comes with an AC adapter (that never happens!)and not only that, the unit is made so that you can plug in the adapter, and if you have rechargeable batteries in the unit, you press the "stop" button and the batteries will begin to charge! I can not tell you how much I absolutely love that!

The skip protection on this unit works very well, I have not had any issues. The hand strap is very comfortable, and the unit itself fits in the hand nicely. I like the programing features and the button design on this player as well. Also, when you press stop (not pause) and then resume playing the device at a later time, it picks up right where you left off on the cd. I feel like I got the best deal out there, definitely a great bargain.

With so many microcontrollers and microcontroller development kits available, it is a daunting task to pick one for embedded hardwaredevelopment and not worry that significant time and money will be wasted when it comes time to expand on-board peripherals or conform to tighter power budgets. The Atmel AP7000 32-bit AVR32 microcontroller (and STK1000 development kit) featuring a Harvard architecture has it all. With the lowest power consumption in its class, the AP7000 has everything you could want in a 32-bit controller, from a direct memory access LCD and camera controllers to DMA ethernet, DACs, PWM, I2S and of course the standard I2C, SPI and UART ports for communication between other on-board peripherals (such as touch screen controllers, DataFlash, etc). In short, this microcontroller blows Texas Instruments, Microchip, ST Micro and the rest of the competitors out of the water.

I've had these speakers for about 3 years now and they're still the only portable iPod speakers I use. I love it because it's multifunctional too, it has a clock, alarm clock (with a snooze button!) and the display illuminates so you can see what time it is when you wake up in the middle of the night! Also included is a great carrying case and a remote, which comes in very handy. The sound you get from these speakers is pretty remarkable. I use the aux port to connect it to my computer because it sounds so much better, you can also plug in any CD player or any other player with an aux output. Definitely a good buy.
