Xylitol is a sugar substitute that looks and taste like sugar with fewer calories and actually is good for the teeth as it reduces tooth decay rates. It has received official endorsements from six national dental associations, which is why I like NOW Xyliwhite toothpaste gel. It is 25% xylitol and has papain a tooth whitening ingredient. It has a nice mint taste. Best of all it is fluoride free which means no poison control warnings on the label. When you have a two year old who loves to eat the toothpaste this is very important and her teeth are clean, white and healthy. Since brushing with this my oldest daughter had no cavities at her last dental checkup (never happened before.) It cost more than other toothpaste but will probably save us money on our future dental bills.
