I had a possible client and I wanted to see how many pages there website had. After some google searches I came across this XML Sitemap Generator.
It's free and after it's complete you can download the results in several different formats. If you'd like you can upload the .xml sitemap to your Google Webmaster account. Pretty handy.
Also after it's done you are present will the total page count and total page size.

Does what I need it to do and pretty quickly. Granted the site I put in only had 46 pages. So I can't comment on larger sites yet.
